Frequently Asked Questions
If you would like to speak with a Therapist about your concerns, you can book a consultation. A consultation consists of a 20-30 minute pre-screening where you can speak with one of our Therapists about your concerns without committing to a full evaluation. The Therapist will ask questions about your child’s development, address any concerns you may have, and provide recommendations for your child.
Ability Pediatric Rehabilitation Medical Center provides screenings at the Center but arrangements can be made to have them conducted at schools or nurseries. Screenings are abbreviated evaluations to determine if a child could benefit from further evaluation, or if a child’s level of performance is age-appropriate and no further evaluation is needed. If your child is found to have mild difficulties yet a full evaluation is not recommended, home programming ideas will be discussed, enabling you (parents) to facilitate these skills at home. If an area of concern is identified, a full evaluation will be recommended.
We do direct billing for eligible patients who have insurance with Thiqa, Daman, Mednet or AXA. Reimbursements will depend on the insurer and the benefits the patient qualifies for.

Yes. parents are a very important part of the treatment programs at Ability Pediatric Rehabilitation Medical Center. Parents are often invited into treatment rooms to observe therapy if the situation is appropriate, and parent education forms an integral part of every therapy session. Each session is designed to allow time for parents and the therapist to discuss progress and what was accomplished during the therapy session. Home programs are provided to parents to increase carryover in all settings and help the child become more successful towards reaching their goals.
Parents are encouraged to observe therapy sessions, either periodically by accompanying their children into the therapy room at least briefly, or by observing through closed circuit if available. Many children perform best when working separately from their parents. For those children, parents may be included in treatment sessions for the last 5-10 minutes in order to understand current objectives as well as home program ideas.
